Artist’s Statement: Inspired by Renaissance painting ‘La Primavera’ by Sandro Botticelli (1455-1510) and his embracing of classical themes/myths, PRIMAVERA also calls on similar themes celebrated through the life and creations of Isadora Duncan (1877-1927) famous American modern dance pioneer. Although living centuries apart, these two artists share their love of beauty, joy and one might say mysticism or spirituality outside of the norms of each of their respective societies. The elegance of Greek Statues, the freedoms of flowing dress and nymph like expression of the body, venerated by Botticelli and Duncan alike, a continuation of tradition through live dance, PRIMAVERA.
