Kristina Ancil Edwards

Kristina Ancil Edwards received her formal training from Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School where she had the opportunity to perform and understudy with the company and completed both the Schenley High School and Graduate Programs. She completed two Peff Pointe Teacher Trainings, with Mme. Peff Modelski (Chicago,IL), is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, and has been a member of AGMA since 2008.

As an instructor, she has a passion for functional technique and the belief that a healthful foundation and understanding within that technique provides greater facility, longevity, and versatility for each dancer.

She has had the privilege of serving as faculty at Visceral Dance Center (Chicago, IL) adjunct faculty at George Mason University (Fairfax, VA), and faculty at BalletNova Center for Dance (Falls Church, VA), and The Washington School of Ballet (Washington, DC), among others.

Most recently she has been an Artistic Associate with Charlottesville Ballet and Stavna Ballet, adjunct faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University, and faculty at West End Academy of Dance. 

Kristina’s extensive performing career includes Louisville Ballet, American National Ballet (Duluth, MN), Chicago Ballet, Nomi Dance Company (Chicago,IL), Winifred Haun & Dancers (Chicago,IL), ClancyWorks Dance Company (Washington, DC), the Ivy Chow Movement Project (Washington, DC), Company E (Washington, DC), Motion X Dance DC (Washington, DC), and most recently Conflux Dance Theater (Richmond, VA).

Additionally she has been a guest artist with the Pittsburgh Opera, Albany Berkshire Ballet, Peoria Ballet, Duluth Festival Opera, Ballet Legere, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Chicago Folks Operetta, and had the opportunity to perform as a back-up dancer for Hannibal Buress.

Her choreographic credits include works set on Nomi Dance Company (Chicago, IL), Classical Repertory Dance Ensemble (Washington, DC), Errant Movement (Washington, DC), Motion X Dance DC (Washington, DC), Radar Dance (Richmond, VA), Stavna Ballet (Richmond, VA), and Conflux Dance Theater (Richmond VA).
